Abstract

Claudio Cintoli operated in the Sixties and Seventies with great vitality and stylistic variety, so much so as to be considered ecletic. Cintoli shunned labels. He was restless and experimented with many many materials disciplines and techniques.

He mastered every artistic language: painting, sculpture, photography and video, often filming his own performances. He brought everything into play with extraordinary ability and feverish talent, pushing yhis freedom as far as possible, and because of his pursuit of freedom and his refusal to seek external approval, he found himself marginalized in the art world, after experiencing and initial moment of public attention and success. Today, after 75 years from his birth, Cintoli's rigorous and extreme work, based on the direct relation between life and art acquire a new meaning.
