In residence one morning per week for eight months. The photographer went once a week to the same unit to meet the patients who were hospitalised for the long-term because they could not live without the care team and the walls of the hospital, but also those who come to the unit because of a life accident, a despair, a crisis, an appeal. He came up abruptly against the repetition of speech and the necessary rituals put in place in order to avoid a daily sinking into the depths of psychosis. Gilles Verneret's work, in bringing together the social image and the intimate reality, allowed the patients to rediscover, beyond the disjunction of madness, the part of humanity which was momentarily lost.
