Abstract

This book is the first in a series entitled A Different Altitude, a project which visit some of the most interesting Italian cities, and looks at them from the unusual perspective of a helicopter or a cloud.
The first stage is Milan. Barbieri's emphasis is on two elements: on the one hand the most renowned symbols of the city's history - the Duomo, the Castello Forzesco, tha Stazione Centrale, the Pirelli skyscraper - and on the other, the new architecture, the symbols of the city of tomorrow - Mario Botta's Teatro alla Scala expansion, Dominque Perrault's two towers, and the revolutionary architecture of the Bicocca area by Vittorio Gregotti.
With this project, Barbieri adds another piece to his programme of site specific works, which has already taken in New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Amman. With an introduction and text by Roberta Valtorta, director of the Museum of Contemporary Photography of Cinisello Balsamo.
