La collezione della Fondazione VAF va annoverata fra le più vaste raccolte di arte contemporanea italiana.
Grazie alle sfaccettature stilistiche delle opere in essa contenute e all’alto numero di artisti rappresentati, può inoltre essere considerata fra le documentazioni più importanti, dal punto di vista storico-artistico, dell’arte italiana dei nostri anni e dei suoi contributi all’arte internazionale. Notevole è non solo l’ampiezza del periodo interessato –che va dagli inizi del XX secolo fino a oggi– ma, per il suo straordinario valore informativo, anche la vasta scelta di opere, una selezione la cui particolarità è legata fra l’altro a una concezione del collezionismo marcatamente anticonformista. In tal senso la collezione contiene sia opere di punta delle principali e ben note manifestazioni dell’arte contemporanea italiana, sia tesori scoperti di recente, i quali hanno portato alla luce l’abilità creativa di artisti che vanno a integrare il modello canonico dell’arte in Italia. Il catalogo, introdotto da testi critici e corredato da tavole, è completato da indici.

The VAF Foundation possesses one of the largest collections of modern and contemporary Italian art. By virtue of the great number of artists represented and the rich stylistic diversity of the works, it can also be regarded in art-historical terms as bearing key witness to the Italian art of our time and its contribution at the international level. Importance attaches not only to the breadth of the period involved, from the dawn of the 20th century to the present day, but also to the extraordinary wealth of information provided by a vast selection of works distinguished among other things by a markedly unconventional approach to collecting. It thus includes both major works by the leading and best-known practitioners of modern and contemporary Italian art but also recently discovered treasures revealing the creative skills of artists now developing the canonical model of art in Italy.

Die Kunstsammlung der VAF-Stiftung zählt zu den quantitativ umfangreichsten Arsenalen der italienischen Moderne und sie darf auch aufgrund des personellen wie auch stilistischen Facettenreichtums ihrer Bestände zu den kunstgeschichtlich wichtigsten Dokumentationen der Beiträge Italiens zur neueren Kunst gerechnet werden. Bemerkenswert ist nicht nur die zeitliche Spannweite, die mit der Sammlung repräsentiert ist und die sich vom Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts an bis zur aktuellen Gegenwart erstreckt, nicht weniger informativ und überraschend stellt sich auch das Spektrum der Werkauswahl dar, deren Besonderheit sich auch in einem betont nonkonformistischen sammlerischen Konzept zeigt. In diesem Sinne beinhaltet die Sammlung der VAF-Stiftung sowohl Spitzenwerke der bekannten Hauptereignisse der italienischen Moderne, als auch neu gehobene Schätze, in denen die kreativen Leistungen von Künstlerinnen und Künstlern zu entdecken sind, die das kanonisierte Modell der Kunstentwicklung in Italien ergänzen.
