Abstract

The guide takes the visitor to the Vittoriale degli Italiani, the monumental citadel staged by Gabriele d'Annunzio between 1921 and 1938 in Gardone Riviera, on the river bank of Lake Garda.

This elected place - not just a house but a set of buildings, streets, squares, theatre, gardens, parks and waterways - was chosen by the poet as his last residence and intended as a mausoleum to hold his remains and perpetuate his memory.

After an introduction dedicated to the birth of the complex, the text by Giordano Bruno Guerri guides the reader through the Park, the richly furnished rooms of the Priory and the Schifamondo wing.

The book is accompanied by a rich repertoire of illustrations and a map.
