The movie poster represents one of the greatest and best known Cuban art forms. It is the maximum expression of the island's passion for film: an indissoluble relationship that binds each film or documentary to its equivalent 'Cartel de Cine'.
Simultaneously a propaganda tool and a graphic work, it has allowed generations of designers to unleash their creative potential freely, having as their only limit the format (51x76 cm) and the technique (screen printing).
The volume presents over 220 works of the best Cuban poster art from the Bardellotto Collection. Rare posters and unique specimens of images, often accompanied by preparatory sketches never exhibited before, reconstruct the entire creative season, from the Castro revolution of 1959 to the present day, of one of the most prestigious and renowned graphic schools in the world.
