The Viacrucis, or "The way of the Cross" is a ritual that suggests reflection on the drama of Jesus Christ's passion and death, from the moment he is condemned to death by crucifixion up to his burial. During the Holy Week, Christians pray in a collective ritual of profound religiosity in front of fourteen images or Stations of the Passion.
Fernando Botero's works present in the exhibition Viacrucis, The Passion of Christ represent a particular moment in the artist's new artistic course without loosing the power of his expressive language. As stated by Conrado Uribe they offer a new occasion of reading and interpretation of his work.
