Abstract

Conceived for the exhibition of the same name, the book presents the evolution of Anna Conway's pictorial work, from her debut to the last works of 2016, thus representing the first monographic publication on the American painter.
Conway's approach to representation - at the same time precise, methodical, intuitive and analytical - involves depicting scenes that combine close observation and pure imagination, accompanied by an almost narrative attention to the place, to the moment and to the characters. The volume showcases the paintings created for the exhibition together with a large iconographic record of his previous works, as well as a critical contribution by Mario Diacono and an interview with the artist by American critic Bob Nickas - who followed Conway's research for a long time.
