Abstract

The sense of an exhibition can also be understood in the structure of the accompanying catalogue: starting with the pages of the Journal, the Centro Pecci’s online magazine, reproduced here as if they were pages from a now distant past, up to the contributions on the Future, offering a glimpse of what awaits us. Between the past and the future, the section on the Present examines the works in the exhibition, a sort of exercise in distance that pushes us to see our present from afar. The opening exhibition of the renovated Centro Pecci is accompanied by a series of events and side exhibitions in the city of Prato and the region, involving Florence, Pisa and Vinci, and outlined in the pages of this catalogue: Prologue took the works of the Pecci Collection to prestigious cultural institutes in Tuscany; Contemporary Tuscany mapped out an urban art path in the Prato area for the first time; The Tower of Babel, an initiative by Tuscan gallery owners in a spectacular building representing the industrial architecture of Prato; and finally TU35 / 2016 dedicated to young Tuscan emerging artists.
