Abstract

ENGLISH
The Regia Carmina addressed to Robert of Anjou in the British Library in London: an Illuminated Manuscript between Italy and Provence

The manuscript of The Regia Carmina held by the British Library (Royal 6 E IX) contains an address of the city of Prato in Tuscany to Robert of Anjou, king of Naples. Perhaps the manuscript is not the original but a copy written some time later. Every now and then the very particular illumination (quite an unicum) has been attributed to a Tuscan or a Neapolitan artist. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the Neapolitan origin of the manuscript containing easily recognizable elements that link it to the artistic production connected with the papal court in Avignon around the middle of the 14th century.
