Abstract

Born in Bologna in 1935, painter, draughtsman, and engraver Valerio Adami had his first solo show in Milan in 1957. At that time, he still appeared to be influenced by the Surrealist works of Roberto Matta, but he moved quickly into New Figuration and Narrative Figuration.
Through line and color, drawing and painting, Valerio Adami’s work can be conceived of as writing, a journey into mythology, poetry, and the artist’s innermost thoughts.
The works in this catalogue invite us to wander through a collection that represents a half- century of artistic creation.
