Abstract

No artist in 20th-century sculpture focused on the world of vegetation and, to be more precise, on the green universe of leaves, fruits, bushes, shrubs, and trees, as much as Alik Cavaliere did.

In his search Alik faced many subjects, as it can be seen at the other Milanese locations of this exhibition (the Hall of the Caryatids, the Museo del Novecento, the garden of Palazzo Reale, the Alik Cavaliere Center, the dining hall of the Bocconi University, also supported by the focus at Palazzo Litta and at the Gallerie d’Italia), but the theme of nature, in its aspects of luxuriance and suffering, as well as expansion and compulsion, is the core of all his work. It is a work, that of Cavaliere, in which the many sources of artistic inspiration are loaded with so many poetical and philosophical suggestions, creating works full of meaning, but never literary or merely focused on their content.
