Girolamo Ciulla

How can we approach the myth? How can we question it? How can we avoid leading it back to the “summoning” of the sign? Girolamo Ciulla worked on this uncertain, ambiguous and slippery ridge, but contemporarily a fascinating one: how can a sculpture, how can a plastic gesture bring out the amphibious traits of a myth? The myth itself is not the enigma. One could rather say that the myth generates enigmas, and Ciulla is a creator of enigmas. His works, his totem-like figures, seem to confirm this hypothesis and are reminiscent of those narrations and can still hear them.
