Architecture, as a discipline and a profession, is facing several crises, which, as yet, it has by no means successfully overcome. The basic hypothesis of the Cosmowomen project is that fully incorporating women into the professional and academic field of architecture would generate new places for thought and attention on the part of professionals, or consolidate and expand the existing ones, while also intensifying the relationships between those ‘places of thought’, thus producing a kind of constellation.
Through the image of the armillary spheres, the project invites reflection on the philosophy and politics of material places, while investigating the characteristics of female architectural production.
The volume presents this work, documenting the achievements of sixty-five architects from more than twenty different countries who have gained their masters at the Bartlett School of Architecture in the last ten years, introduced by the texts of twenty professionals, exemplary for their brilliant academic career.
