Abstract

In a city of knowledge and medicine, it’s a poetic of the human figure that explores Bodies at Stake. The body is political, social, gendered, fantasized, celebrated, subject. It is the reflection of our fears, of our aspirations, of our time. How to represent the human today? More than fifty works created between 1977 and 2020 examine a human figure inseparable from social, political and cultural traumas that are ours. This richly illustrated catalog brings together unpublished texts: art critic and curator, Marion Zilio, the author, Amélie Lucas-Gary, and the authors, Julie Ackermann, Marie Applagnat, Angela Blanc, Caroline Chabrand, Jean-Baptiste Delorme, Anna Kerekes, Marilou Thiébault and Justine Vic each took part in the meticulous exam of the representation of the human figure. Two interviews driven by the exhibition curator Vincent Honoré with Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo as well as with the artist Michele Rizzo complete the publication.
