Abstract

This volume details the new exhibition itinerary that enriches the permanent contemporary collections of the GAM Museum, Turin, with 56 new works by 33 renowned artists on the international art scene.
This is an opportunity to enhance the museum’s collection, which in the post-war years began to include works of art from all over the world and to house, over time, those coming not only from Europe and America, but also, especially from the 1990s, from distant cultures such as those in China and Africa, with their peculiar expressive languages.
The artists belong to different generations: ranging from the masters born in the 1930s and the 1940s – Georg Baselitz, Anselm Kiefer, Christian Boltanski, and Marina Abramović – to the generation born between the 1960s and the 1970s – Jim Lambie, Aleksandra Mir, Cecily Brown, and Kcho – all their works offer multiple perspectives, exemplifying individual research rather than a specific geographical region, style, or art movement.
