Abstract

WHEN URBAN ATTITUDES BECOME CONTEMPORARY ART identifies a selection of twenty-six artists who have employed the attitudes matured in the urban space conceived as a subject and a work surface (the visual and technical principles, the spatial structures, the aesthetic specificity of the out-of-placeness, the community ethics of the street) as a premise not to be hidden. Starting from this premise they have developed original reflections and practices, techniques and styles even very distant from each other, which contribute to a new and unique international line of contemporary art, from painting to sculpture, from figuration to abstraction, from installation to photography, from performance to video art.
