The book documents the projects selected for the call Cantica 21. Italian Contemporary Art Everywhere, initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in agreement with the Ministry of Culture. The call, which was launched as part of the celebration of the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri's death with the aim of increasing Italian public collections and at the same time creating an international showcase for Italian contemporary art, identified 45 artists and collectives, divided into three categories: 20 for the emerging section, 20 for established artists and finally 5 with works inspired by and dedicated to Dante Alighieri's literary work.
The works presented in these pages demonstrate the great vitality of contemporary Italian art and also the extraordinary relevance of the Divine Comedy in capturing the complexity and contradictions of the human soul in an authentic and profound manner.
