Giuseppe Salvatori

Giuseppe Salvatori’s painting is pure vision. The focus on figure runs through the veins of Western art: it encapsulates its mysterious essence and has become its signature language over the centuries. Since the late 1970s – when he embraced New Figuration, excluding any shortcuts of Postmodernist style – Salvatori’s painting has been an appeal to human dignity. There is nothing fatuous about the decorative sign if it turns into harmony and music. There is nothing nostalgic about art if its hallmark is a delicate poetry that aims at mitigating our pain by stressing the fragility of things. Salvatori’s oeuvre is devoted to narrating reality, whose high ethical value lies in understanding who we really are. His images are the ancient and contemporary dream of a fevered imagination. Indeed, to paint is to add life to life.
