Abstract

A journey into the surprising world of Corrado Cagli (Ancona 1910 – Rome 1976), a leading painter and Master of the 20th century. This volume presents a group of artworks produced in the postwar period, when Cagli returned to Europe with the U.S. Army, establishing himself at the center of the Italian art scene. It is undoubtedly the most prolific phase of the artist’s production. During these years, his work is marked by an exceptional variety of languages, expressing himself in different cycles: from esoteric tarot-related images to studies of the fourth dimension, from the research of symbols to the dialectical reflections between matter and image, exemplified in the 1950s “Carte Mute”.
