The terracotta heads by Paolo Delle Monache collected in this volume “are – as the artist suggests – echoes of forms I encountered many years ago, large stones closely spaced, spread around a beech wood. I tried to evoke the silent dialogue amongst them. Seemingly scattered presences that strengthen themselves and the others by appearing together. They contain thought and memory and perhaps put us before what we have recently lost: standing together, side by side”.
