In Helidon Xhixha’s sculptures, a heavy, inert material like steel becomes lightweight and susceptible to transformations. And the reflecting smoothness of its surface, in turn, gives rise to a fascinating conjuring process brought to life by unexpected appearances (lightweight and floating) ready to regenerate or disappear at the slightest movement of viewers standing before them. Drawing on a constant creative bent in all his works, Xhixha arouses wonder when he envelops and involves viewers, transforming them into active and essential parts of the monumental sculptural installations conceived and created for the opulent rooms of Milan’s Palazzo Reale.
