Abstract

This volume aims at exploring the strategic role played by university campuses in urban development.
The new spaces of the Politecnico di Milano meet the needs of a modern, international university, committed to developing critical thinking, shaping students’ identities and sharing values and knowledge, taking into consideration also the necessities of Milan, a city that looks to Europe and the world, the nerve centre of the Italian economy.
The book illustrates the project for and construction of the new campus of the Politecnico di Milano, retraces the building of the historical campus in the Città Studi district and presents the university’s new proposals for the future of Milan.
