Il volume, dal ricco apparato iconografico, è dedicato alle opere del grande maestro fiorentino conservate presso la Galleria degli Uffizi di Firenze. L'autore conduce il lettore alla conoscenza dei capolavori del maestro: dal celebre Battesimo di Cristo, opera in cui si riconoscono le mani di Verrocchio e del giovanissimo allievo Leonardo, qui alla sua prima prova importante, all'Annunciazione, opera giovanile la cui storia risulta ancora piuttosto oscura.

Infine, oltre a uno studio su uno dei più interessanti disegni leonardeschi, lo Schizzo di paesaggio conservato nel Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe degli Uffizi, il volume analizza la posa di ascendenza classica della famosa Leda, dipinto scomparso ma che tanto influsso ebbe sui pittori del Cinquecento italiano.

The richly illustrated book is dedicated to the works of the great Florentine master kept in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. The author guides the reader through the masterpieces of this genius, from the famous Baptism of Christ, in which we can recognize the hand of Verrocchio and his very young pupil, Leonardo, for whom this was the first major test, to the Annunciation, a youthful work whose story still remains rather obscure today. Finally, as well as an article on one of the most interesting drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci, the Landscape Sketch, kept in the Drawing and Print Room at the Uffizi, the book also analyses the classical ascendancy pose of Leonardo’s famous Leda, a painting now lost, but which had a great deal of influence on the Italian painters of the 16th century.
